Titre : QUALITY OF LIFE FOLLOWING GASTRECTOMY IN GASTRIC CANCER SURVIVORS: A MIXED-METHODS STUDY OF DETERMINANTS AND PATIENT-REPORTED OUTCOMES Type de document : thèse Auteurs : HAMMOUD FATIMA ZAHRA, Auteur Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Gastric cancer Health related quality of life EORTC STO-22 PROMs Qualitative study Cancer gastrique Qualité de vie liée à la santé EORTC QLQ-C30 EORTC QLQ-STO22 Méthodes mixtes Gastrectomie Résultats rapportés par les patients Maroc Résumé : Purpose: This study aims to investigate the determinants of quality of life (QoL) in gastric cancer survivors post-gastrectomy, focusing on the impact of various treatment modalities and clinical characteristics on their physical, psychological, and social well-being.
Methods: A mixed-methods approach was employed, integrating quantitative assessments using the EORTC QLQ-C30 and QLQ-STO22 instruments with qualitative interviews. The quantitative phase involved 114 participants, while the qualitative phase comprised in-depth interviews with a subset of these participants. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, linear regression, and thematic analysis to identify key factors affecting QoL.
Results: The study identified that functional status, cancer stage, type of reconstruction (Roux-en-Y vs. Billroth II), and participation in a clinical pathway program are significant predictors of QoL in post-gastrectomy cancer patients. Patients undergoing subtotal gastrectomy and Roux-en-Y reconstruction reported better overall QoL.. Qualitative data underscored the importance of social support and spiritual well-being in enhancing survivors' QoL.
Conclusion: The findings highlight the multifaceted nature of QoL in gastric cancer survivors, emphasizing the need for comprehensive care strategies that address both clinical and psychosocial factors. Tailored surgical approaches, effective symptom management, and robust support systems are crucial for improving the long-term well-being of these patients; NI Juge : Maria SABIR Juge : Saber BOUTAYEB QUALITY OF LIFE FOLLOWING GASTRECTOMY IN GASTRIC CANCER SURVIVORS: A MIXED-METHODS STUDY OF DETERMINANTS AND PATIENT-REPORTED OUTCOMES [thèse] / HAMMOUD FATIMA ZAHRA, Auteur . - [s.d.].
